Longtime PLUS member, Dan Aronowitz, has been nominated by President Trump to serve as Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA). EBSA is responsible for enforcement of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and related laws and regulations, along with protecting employer-based retirement, health, and welfare benefits for workers and retirees. The nomination was received in the Senate and referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, and must be confirmed by the Senate.<\/p>\n
Dan has spent his career as a fiduciary liability lawyer and underwriter, repeatedly defending plan sponsors from fiduciary liability claims and risks. Dan shared some thoughts with PLUS upon being nominated and noted his passion for removing the fear of litigation from the benefits system to unlock the full potential of the voluntary employee benefits system. His goals include creating clarity in fiduciary obligations thereby ensuring all American workers will have enhanced retirement and health security.<\/p>\n
Dan remains an actively engaged member at PLUS, having been among the first 3,000 practitioners to join, in addition to holding the RPLU+ designation.<\/p>\n
